The doctors of 8 Flags Chiropractic care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions.  Chiropractors are especially well-known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches, particularly with their highly-skilled chiropractic adjustments. We also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, including sprains and strains, shoulder dysfunction, hip and knee pain, and clicking or unstable TMJs. These painful conditions often involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant to the region of injury. We also counsel patients on nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, and occupational and lifestyle modifications.

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.

When discussing the risks of any health care procedure, it is important to look at that risk in comparison to other treatments available for the same condition. In this regard, the risks of serious complications from spinal manipulation for conditions such as neck pain and headache compare very favorably with even the most conservative care options. For example, the risks associated with some of the most common treatments for musculoskeletal pain—over-the-counter or prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and prescription painkillers—are significantly greater than those of chiropractic manipulation.

Chiropractors are considered a portal-of-entry physician, meaning you do not need a referral to be seen by a chiropractor in the state of Florida. If you have further concerns regarding this subject, you are able to call you insurance company directly (the number is located on the back of your insurance ID).

Yes, children can absolutely benefit from chiropractic care. Many parents have their children adjusted within the first few days of life to ensure there is no interference on the nervous system as their babe assimilates to a new world. Older children are very physically active and experience many types of falls and blows from activities of daily living as well as from participating in sports. Injuries such as these may cause symptoms such as back and neck pain, but it may also manifest in other ways, like bed wetting, hyperactivity, asthma, allergies, etc. The chiropractic adjustment for children is determined by the child’s developmental stage. Yes. Chiropractic care is included in most health insurance plans, including major medical plans, workers’ compensation, Medicare, some Medicaid plans, and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans for federal employees, among others. Chiropractic care is also available to active-duty members of the armed forces at more than 60 military bases and is available to veterans at more than 60 major veterans medical facilities.

The more important question is “will my insurance cover my visits at 8 Flags Chiropractic?” If you are unsure, you can either contact a representative with your insurance company to discuss your benefits, or you can call our office and someone on our team can assist you.

The hands-on nature of the chiropractic treatment is essentially what requires patients to visit the chiropractor a number of times. The frequency of care is determined by the information obtained during the initial chiropractic examination and the 24-hour follow-up visit. The type of complaint and medical history a practice member comes to the office with will determine the specific techniques used during the appointment, as well as the appropriate frequency of visits necessary to obtain the practice member’s goal(s).

Lubricating fluids separate the bones of each spinal joint. Some adjusting techniques will produce a sound when the gas and fluids in the joints shift. The sound itself is not a guide to the quality or value of the adjustment. In other words, you can be adjusted without producing the sound or you can produce the sound without being properly adjusted.
